Default Dollie Therapy?

No, I dont mean therapy for your dolls, i meant...

Do you think owning/ playing with your dolls is like therapy? Explain.

There is a thread on DoA but I wanted to put it here too.

Why put a label on having fun and using your imagination? This sounds like a justification for playing with dolls.

For some people it is indeed more than just fun playing with dolls. Anyways, everything that makes you feel good and happy (in healthy way) is kinda therapy!

I guess it is, they have a feel, a smell, a look...all comforting things- though some are more cuddly than others!

It's fun, it's soothing, it's comforting - yes definitely therapy
and if you believe your doll has a soul, you have someone to share your secrets with too ...

For me, who has some serious depressive problems, they are an escape from the world.
When I am playing with them, making clothes etc then I can forget about all the other s**t and just be. So yeah for some of us they are "therapy" if you like. My dolls are a way to be happy. A small pleasure in a pressurised world!

All hobbies are a form of escapism, the BJD hobby is no different. I find that making things for my dolls takes my mind off my worries even just for a little while.
